FAQ (Technical)

Q1: Does Bamboo run as Windows Services or Schedule Tasks? Bamboo File Sync and Backup software does not run as a Windows Service.  But it utilizes Windows Schedule Task for scheduled synchronization jobs.  Once you have a Job set up to run on schedule, it will be executed by Windows Scheduler at the time specified at the background without user intervention, or login.   Q2: Does Bamboo support FTP remote connection? No.  Bamboo is not currently supporting FTP network connection.  If you need offsite connection, you would consider setting up Windows file sharing or SMB sharing over VPN connection.     Back to: FAQ (All Topic List)

Q1: Do I need Administrator right to install Bamboo File Sync and Backup? Yes. In Windows XP (or Vista and Windows 7 with UAC - User Access Control - disabled), you need the computer's Administrator right to install Bamboo. FAQ (Editions and License)

Q1: What is the difference between Free Edition and Professional Edition? Bamboo File Sync and Backup comes in two editions, Free and Professional.  Each targets different types of usages in term of both amount and variety of files to be synced and copied. In Free Edition, users can create at most 5 Folder Pairs.  Folder Pairs are pairs of folders set up for a specific sync or copy action.  The number of Items involved in the syncing or copying decision is limited to 100 per Folder Pair per Run.  Free Edition is designed for casual users.
