Advanced controls

Bamboo give you full control of exactly which file to be copied or synced and exactly how they are copied and synced.  You can control such advanced details by two simple concepts: WHAT and HOW.

 

WHAT to be copied / synced?

1. Setting Defualt Run Options of Folder Pair Action.

For details, refer to Folder Pair in Action: Sync, Backup, and Merge Folders.

 

2. “With all sub-folders in the above locations” checkbox

From the Folder Pair Advanced Window, General tab, check or uncheck the “With all sub-folders in the above locations” checkbox.

3. Folder Pair Filters

You can add as many Filters as you need to specify the type(s) of files you want to cover in the Folder Pair’s Action.  The final list of items for copy or sync is the intersect of all enabled Filters.

HOW to copy / sync?

You can assign specific copy or sync action to individual item for execution in the Execution Dialog.

When you execute (Run) a Folder Pair in Bamboo, Bamboo will first analyze the contents in pair of folders, and assign a suitable copy action to each item (folder or file) according to the Folder Pair Action and Default Run Options.  You can optionally override and re-assign any copy actions to any individual item as you wish in the Execution Dialog.

Tips:  To easily enter the Execution Dialog before any file copy actually being carried out, choose “Run with Options…” instead of just “Run”.  The Run Options Dialog will popup.  Check the “Pause after analyze” checkbox, the Run will be paused after analyze so that you can open the “View Running Details…” link to fine tune individual file action before any file actually being copied.

In the Execution Dialog (View Running Details…), select any individaul item:

In the bottom part of the dialog, there is the selected item’s detailed info panel.  You can examine the Analyze results, basic file information, and the assigned Action base on the analysis in this panel.  You can click on the pull-down menu to override the assign Action:

Note: The first, boldface action is the original action assigned based on analyze result.
